Situated at an altitude of 700 to approximately 1,600 metres above sea level, is the ‘green valley’ of the Puster Valley as it is often called.
North of Brixen, it runs in an easterly direction from the Eisack Valley and is home to the rivers Rienz and Drau. Typical for the Lower Puster Valley are its lavish meadows and dark forests.
The Upper Puster Valley, however, presents you with the characteristic mountain peaks of the Sexten and Lienz Dolomites. The famous ‘Drei Zinnen’ can also be found here.
Besides some quiet and nearly untouched villages, the Puster Valley also has varied leisure time and sports on offer such as hiking, climbing, Nordic Walking, horse-riding, swimming, cross-country skiing, as well as Alpine skiing and snowboarding in the ski region Kronplatz with more than 100 kilometres of well prepared pistes.
