A summer holiday between the Dolomites and the Alpine main ridge

Hiking in Val Pusteria/Pustertal

On one side of the valley the Dolomites, on the other side the picturesque green pastures of the Gitschberg-Jochtal alpine region: While you’re spending your summer holiday in the Dolomites, you can go on magical hikes in the Fundres/Pfunderer mountains at the same time. The trails are as varied as the mountain regions themselves. And even though they have different levels of difficulty, they all have one thing in common: the stunning panorama that you can look forward to while hiking.

Mountain biking in the Dolomites

The Dolomites are a paradise for mountain bikers, technique freaks and speed chasers. The narrow trails and wide forest paths get bikers’ pulses racing and the adrenaline really shoots through the veins all the more during the downhill on Plan de Corones/Kronplatz. However, leisurely cyclists are also on to a good thing at our hotel in Val Pusteria/Pustertal as the Val Pusteria/Pustertal valley cycle path leads past our hotel not far away and runs mostly flat from the neighbouring village of Rio di Pusteria/Mühlbach to Lienz in East Tyrol. Perfect for families!

Swimming and rafting – cool down in summer

The Alpinpool in Maranza/Meransen, which you have 1 free admission to as a guest at Hotel Lodenwirt, the Acquarena indoor and outdoor swimming pool in Bressanone/Brixen, the outdoor swimming pool in Brunico/Bruneck, Cron 4 in Riscone/Reischach and the idyllic Laghetto d’Issengo/Issinger Weiher natural swimming lake, which is just a ten minute drive from our hotel, are all perfect for cooling down. Things get action packed with rafting in the Aurino/Ahr or Iscaro/Eisack river or with unusual canyoning.

Conquer the air with paragliding

A paragliding flight is probably one of the most spectacular experiences during a summer holiday in the Dolomites. You literally float as if you’re on a cloud in the tandem seat high above the valley. You take off from the Plan de Corones/Kronplatz peak or from Rodengo/Rodeneck in the Gitschberg-Jochtal alpine region. You can find out all the details about a flight by talking personally to the pilot several times a week and book your flight directly with us at the hotel. Photos of this unique experience are included in the price: Rodengo/Rodeneck gliding flight EUR 80, Gitschberg and Plan de Corones/Kronplatz gliding flight EUR 110.
